Why? It's easier just to pull the power from the airbag light in the overhead console. Took me an 8" long wire and about 15 minutes. Search these forums for a couple of threads that show you how to do it.

That doesn't sound bad at all. In fact, that's probably what I'll end up doing, but the way I was thinking would be 1/4" of wire. I was thinking from one pin to the other. The power that is being sent to light up the onstar buttons.

Oh okay, now I understand. I just get worried when trying to jumper across pins then plugging the wire into the connector on the mirror (lots of chances to bend pins or have the jumper come loose). Pgamboa has a nice writeup on here with the part number for the OEM pin that you can push into the existing connector. Then just tap the other end of the wire into the airbag light in the overhead console and you are done!

It worked out well. I started taking down the overhead console to find where to tap into when I just decided to run the wire to the driver side fuse box. I already had an add a fuse off of RAP there for my dash cam and radar detector, so I just added this. I was lucky with the mirror I bought; it came with the harness, so I just took the pin I needed and put it in my trucks harness.
