Door hinge popping

It isn't the actual door hinge, but it's the mechanism that "stops" the door at certain degrees of opening. Every time my door opens, I hear a loud POP at every "stop" of that piece. I've tried a few simple lubrication tries, but it hasn't done anything.

 

Anyone else have that problem, or know a good solution to resolve it! Hard to be sneaky when the door pops real loud when I get out....

It may be roller worn from lack of lubrication. Also you lube the roller/shaft but NOT the surface of the roller that rides on the arm. If you get lube on surface, clean it off. Watch the roller and see if it is turning, it should be.

I know the piece you're talking about I replaced both drivers and passenger assemblies on my truck with a newer design piece from the junk yard (y) they are pretty simple to change I think the 3 nuts that attach it to the door and body are all 7mm

I think the ones I got for my truck were off of an 03-04, direct replacement no modification needed

I believe the only fix is to replace.

I had the same problem on my 99. White lithium grease every couple of months keeps it at bay.
