2004 Duramax

Are there any changes planned for the 2004 Duramax. A friend of mine is about ready to trade his 2000 2500HD 6.0. He will go with the Silverado ext cab 2500HD 4x4 with the Duramax in his next truck. He will wait if there will be a more powerful Duramax available in 2004.

Are there any changes to the 2004 that would be worth waiting for?

From everything I have heard, the 04 model year the Duramax will be getting redesigned cylinder heads (to move the injectors and other fuel system components outside of the head itself to prevent the fuel from leaking into the oil), a variable geometry turbo, and EGR (for all 50 states ). Expect Hp to be in the neighborhood of 340 and torque in the area of 550 ft-lbs depending on what Ford and Dodge have at that time.

What about the style...do you think they might add the 'bump' in the hood like the 2002's ??

I wouldn't count on it. The powerdome (raised front hood) hood was available in 00. I wish they had stuck with that style. It is the best looking truck!
