Rear Defrost

Recommended Posts

One of the spade terminals fell off of my rear window where it attaches to the defrost elements. It looks like it was soldered on. What's the best way to reattach it. Will it break the glass if I heat it enough to solder it? Is there a conductive adhesive that I could use? Thanks.

Get some plumber's putty and apply around the terminal area to protect the glass.

Then solder the joint.

Thanks for the replies. I noticed that the epoxy would need 24 hours at 75 degrees to cure. I would have to take the window off and take it inside the house because my garage is full of junk.

I went with the solder option. I polished both surfaces with a wire brush on my Dremel tool and then I wiped them down with rubbing alcohol. I used a 40-watt soldering iron. The whole process took about 15 minutes and it looks as good as new. I'll know it works tomorrow morning if the frost melts.
