LT275/65R18 or LT275/70R18

Hey tire gurus,

 

I found a 18x9 rim with a +30mm offset that I like and want to know which tire I should get out of the two. I am only running a 2" levelling kit in the front.

 

I would prefer the LT275/65R18 tire but the manufacturer recommends rim width as being 7-8.5 and the rim is an 18x9. Does this even really matter? Reason I want this tire size is I don't want to deal with the rubbing that the 70R18 (33'') might provide me.

 

Oh by the way, the tire is a general grabber AT2. Great reviews and has the snowflake rating which is great

Both tires you mentioned above will work great on a X9 wheel, I'd personally look for a tire in 285/65/18 though. Either way, good luck!

No reason really other than looks, the 285/65/18 is a little wider.

i had those general grabbers on my last truck. 03 2500 duramax. they were great in the beginning but wore fast and once they were half gone were horrible on the wet roads had to take them off with less than 40,000 miles on them with winter coming. not trying to bash your choice just my experience with them . 1 st season in the snow they were great

I'm a little late to the party....but I'm very happy with my 275/65/18's on my 9" wide rims. They don't rub at all, even with GM mudflaps, and I only have a 2" lift. People ask me all the time if they're 285's. My truck still drives & shifts just like it did with stock tires.

I've got 275/70/18 Duratracs and don't have any rubbing. I went with the 70 for the bit of extra height. I think you should be fine with a 2" level.

You also have stock rims, which help a ton when it comes to rubbing. That being said, he may have been ok with the 70 series on aftermarket rims, but it would have been very close.

Well, finally bolted them on this morning. Yes, my truck is very dirty. Ill clean it one day. It's a truck LOL! Let me know what you think....

I'm impressed with tires already to be honest. Lots of ice out there and haven't used auto or 4x4 yet. Very low amount of spinning on ice. I wasn't sure about the wheels as buying on the Internet is hard in the way that I won't know how exactly they look when they are on. However I'm pretty happy with them. They are different and I think they look pretty good. I like em better then my eagle alloy 197's that are in the garage.

Looks good. I think would look even better if you removed the lower valence on the front bumper.
