Tow Mirrors should be standard

Recommended Posts

All terrain HD!?!?!?!! Had this been revealed yet?!?

Also I ordered the standard mirrors I don't like the elephant ears. I think it's really a style black eye but jmo. Good to have choices. I feel more strongly about the appearance and power folding than shear size. But I'm a good driver hehehe parking in tight places with an HD You want go be able to tuck those babies in, preferably with a button!

After trying several options, I finally found one that fully takes care of the blind spot on my 2015 2500HD 4x4. The truck is so tall that I nearly drove over several cars in the blind spot before I came up with this solution. It is a small rectangular, slanted Convex mirror from PepBoys and is mounted on the Tow mirror hinge instead of on the mirrors.

There was a google hangout with Jeff Luke where he announced that they are coming out with a new power fold tow mirror.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing, they talk about mirrors at 10:06.

So he stated that we'd see them "soon", and that was 6 months ago. Any ideas on when? I just bought a Duramax 2500 and would love to put real mirrors on it, but I'd like to wait until the lighted and power fold.

Here we go:

Included in the press release for the new All Terrain HDs-

"New, heated, power-adjustable trailering mirrors are offered on SLE and SLT including All Terrain and Denali (late availability), including segment-first back-up lamps. The large mirrors feature 51 square inches of flat mirror surface positioned over a 24.5-square-inch non-heated or power-adjustable convex mirror surface. A new auxiliary back-up lamp is integrated in each mirror to enhance trailer visibility when backing up, as well as an amber auxiliary clearance lamp. The SLE trailering mirror is black and can be extended and folded manually. The SLT/Denali mirror has a chrome cap and adds a power-folding feature."

Quarter 3 of this year is when I heard they will be available.

When testing driving new vehicles, I drove both. The standard mirrors felt too small for a vehicle of this size and height. I ultimately went with the camper mirrors. However, this being my first rig with them, it took a while to get used to them. They seem to create a 'new' blind spot when looking forward during a turn. Also, I noticed at night, headlights would sometimes reflect in them and I would feel that a car what coming right at me. Once I got them set up, particularly, the passenger side, would not go back. The spotter mirrors are very helpful. I still have to pay attention at drive thru's otherwise Ill clip something with the mirror
