finally placed an order for 6.2 silverado

well, after a month of research and shopping around ive finally placed an order for a silverado. as hard as it was to not settle for the 5.3 and drive it home i ordered the 6.2. 2wd ltz 18" wheels, kept it simple to keep costs down and ill upgrade once im driving it. ive never ordered a vehicle ever so im not sure what happens now. im hearing about delays on the 6.2s but denali owners have recieved theirs already, so im curious how the silvys will compare.

anyone know with confidence what approximate wait im looking at? of course im real excited and i dont want the dealership to see my enthusiasm. my salesman did say it will be the first one they get. any help would be great, thank you.

FTW, it's going to be tough to get a good answer to your question. I can't speak to the Silverados, however, it did take me exactly 7 weeks to get my 6.2 Denali. GM seems to be rationing the 6.2s and the as well as the Denalis and High Countrys. My local Chevy dealer couldn't get a High Country if their life depended on it. My local GMC dealer has only gotten two orders through the system for 6.2 Denalis. Mine was the first and we did place it on Sept. 19th, the day GM began accepting orders for the 6.2s and the Denalis. On the other hand, I have heard there are some dealers in the US, Oklahoma for one I think who has 6.2s on the lot. The bottom line is TIMING...that seems to be the big factor. I have friends on this forum who ordered 6.2s approximately the same time I did, just a week or two later, and their's is still not built. Anything can change on any given day, especially with GM production. I know this doesn't help much, but just wanted to share my insight, based on my very recent experience. Good luck with yours, nurture your patience and it will work out.

Mr. CorvetteOJ,

I have a LTZ 4WD, with 6.2L/Max Trailer/Camper Mirrors ordered ordered and have been looking for descriptions/pictures of what the exhaust pipe looks like on the 6.2Ls. You are the only person I have read about that has theirs. Is there any difference between the big engine exhaust and the 5.3L exhaust? (pipe diameter, shape, angle, etc) Thanks in advance.

Johnyee,

The exhaust diameter and pipe is the same size on the 6.2 versus the 5.3. The only difference is the Denali comes with a chrome tip. I have already taken delivery of my truck, but the tip has not arrived.

I wished the 14 Denali came with a rear exhaust like my 2011 did.

Johnnyee, sounds like you have pretty close to the same order as I do. You are the only other guy I have heard that ordered the camper mirrors. I am curious when you placed your order and how far along in the process you are? Mine was ordered on 10/22 but didn't get accepted by GM until 11/6 and has been at 1100 since then.

Mine is pretty simple, LTZ Max trailer 6.2, camper mirrors, LED bed lights. with those choices it automatically got me the 20" wheels and A/S tires. I went with Blue topaz & dark ash interior

Craig,

My order was accepted on 11/13/13. It is the Deep Ruby Metallic with the tan leather interior. It has the same options your listing plus the LTZ Plus Package, Navigation, and the Driver Alert Package. It will be used primarily to pull our travel trailer, so that was the reasoning behind it's configuration. I am more concerned about power, fuel economy and pulling in the mountains than I am about speed issues. (Probably and age issue) I figure it will get here in 8 to 10 weeks. Patience, like a good bourbon, is a good thing during times like this.

Johnny,

I hear you on the patience thing it will be worth the wait but it doesn't make it any easier LOL.

I pull a 28' enclosed car hauler with my drag car in it so the mirrors were a must for me. It weighs 9900lbs loaded and generally is behind my Kodiak chassis motorhome. My lease was up on the Regal the wife drives and GM does not incentivize leases on the 3/4 ton on up stuff anymore so I was happy to see the 1500 when properly optioned could haul my trailer. It will be nice to again have something to haul it with other than the motorhome for quick trips.

You might want to read this post. It seems the diameter is different from 6.2 to the 5.3.
