Front Bumper Question

I noticed that my 02 has two slots in the front bumper right above the license plate in the plastic trim part of the bumper. Mine are not open like my friends in his 01 2500HD. Is there any reason that mine might be closed? Think there would be any benefit to opening them up for more airflow?

i dont really think ther is any benefit, but it does look a lot better without the covers imo. if you want to see how they look with out them, they are very easy to pop off and put back on. just go underneath your front bumper with a flash light and locate where they are and all you have to do is kinda bend it so one side pops out then the other side will come right out. i removed mine and i think it looks a little "tougher" without them,my buddy saw mine and did the same to his.

They will let a little more air flow in, which won't hurt.

I did this to mine a while back.  All it is, is rain gutter guard that I got from Lowe's and cut it to fit, and pressed it in.  They were just kind of wedged in there tightly.  One finally fell out after a couple years, so I took the other one out about a month or two ago and havn't got around to making more.   :uhoh:   Easy customizing for just a few dolars.  :thumb:   Oh yeah, they are aluminum, but I sprayed them with some Metalized Aluminum Rust-Oleum spray paint so they would look better longer.

I beilieve those holes are there if you have a diesel engine.  Remember the bumpers on the old body styly suburbans/trucks that had the big holes in the front bumper for a diesel?
