Looking for a Tahoe or Yukon

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!  I'm a newbie :uhoh:

Came here from gmforums.com because that board sucks.

Anyway, I'm looking for a '95-'99 Tahoe or Yukon 4WD that needs engine or trans work.

Preferrably with leather interior. Close to Chicago, IL would be nice.

Doesn't matter if its the 5.7L or the 6.5L Turbo Diesel.

Lemme know if you find anything even if it doesn't meet my description. Only things I really care about is '95-'99 year and 4WD.

Thanks and have a great day!

Have you tried any of the auto auctions in the chicagoland area?  I see commercials for that one in harvey i think all the time.

I am very mechanically inclined and my dad is a GM Master Tech.  He works for a Cadillac/HUMMER dealer and can get me parts for cheap.  I'm going to college @ Michigan Tech which is in the upper peninsula and they get a lot of snow so I need a 4x4.

So yeah, I guess you missed that line that said I was looking for one with a bad engine or tranny.  Thanks though.

Thanks guys!

One question, how do I set the controls so that it automatically e-mails me when I get a reply to a post.  I thought I set it up already, but I'm not getting any e-mails.

it says that I am already subscribed to this topic.  I'm not receiving any e-mails though.

I have everything setup correctly, so I dont know what is wrong.

Anybody find me a truck yet?  I know those 350s gotta blow up some time.

My dad just got a '98 5.7L Vortec short block w/7,000 miles on it.  Guy had a rattling noise coming from his pickup.  So they replaced the engine under GM warranty because the truck only had 7k miles on it.  Still made the noise after the new engine.  Turned out the some cooling lines were rubbing on the frame.  So I have a perfectly good 350 now.

Just need a Tahoe.

You might have to hook up with a "wholesaler" or make friends with a used car dealer.  I bought my Yukon for $7200 with nothing wrong with it except high miles last year.  It still runs and drives great, but the mileage is killing me!

You might try looking for a high mileage model on AutoTrader.  Most people don't know how to get rid of a car/truck with a bad engine/trans and if they do, it goes to the mechanic who told them it was toast...so he rebuilds it and makes a hefty profit.  You might also try some banks in your area.  Sometimes they will repo a rig that someone tore up and stopped paying on.  What price range are you looking at?  I know of a 2door blazer (I think its a 94 though) for $6800 around here.

Just got my truck today.  Had it shipped up from GA.

Its a '97 GMC Yukon 4DR.  Red/Silver ext w/gray leather int.

Needs some work, but I picked it up for $6500.  Has a broken drum in the tranny so it has no reverse or OD.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got one.
