So I changed out my differential fluid both front and rear.

I put in M1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90.

I remembered reading on this site that I shouldn't have LS fluid as it makes the locking mechanism react sluggish compared to non LS fluid.

I'm just trying to figure out if I'm ok with this fluid. If I have to I will change it out. Thank you.

Any syn 75w-90 of your choice without the LS additive

I think wal-mart carries the full synthetic 75w-90 gear oil with no LS addtive. They come in grey bottles and can be hard to find, not all Wal-marts carry it. Dont worry about buying it from wally-world. Their store brand (supertech) oils are excellent quality from a small, american oil manufacturer, Warren Oil.

 

If it makes life easier for you, buy a suction gun from your local auto parts store and just suck all the gear oil out with that. You will have to poke the tube around in a bunch of different spots but it is easier than wasting your new gasket and trying to get a new one to seat. Refill the pumpkin with the correct fluid and the whole process should take less than 20 mins. Another helpful tip is to take the truck for a long ride first, park on level ground, then immediately get under your truck and suck the fluid out. It will be easier to suck out if the fluid is warm and thin from being used.
