atsbob Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 My Tow haul mode is not working but if I push it while moving the shifter from p to d it will sometimes come on so obviously it is a wire cracked/ broke. So how do i go about fixing this as I have not been into a dash or column on these trucks. I am very surprised that this truck has this problem with only 33000 miles on it. thanks Robert
gmtech4 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 the wire is broken ,,,take the trim off and follow it ,,,,lots of threads on it ,, your football club beat my Argos ,i shouldnt even be helping you ,,,,its not right i say ,,,,not right at all ,,,,lol

dsmmace Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Test resistance on the wires until you find the break. There is a reason why I hate wiring repairs, they are difficult for the layman. However the most likely place is at the flex point at the shift lever in the column.
gmtech4 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 welcome Rob,,,,signed 2 hrs east of Edm ,,,,lol roughriderfans *&^^%$##$^&*&*((&^%$##$%^& lmao !!!
Doug_Scott Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 As others have said, it is a wire that is broken inside the insulation. If the insulation breaks, then it will not work at all. Pretty easy to locate and repair. Look at where the bottom of the dash meets the steering column. If you find the pair of wires, pull on them, right at the spot where the wires leave the steering column, and where they connect to or get tied to the underside of the dash. All GM had to do was add 2 inches of wire between the column and dash.
