Transfer comparability

I have a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 and was told by a mechanic my transfer case was shot. I have come across a 1998 rebuilt transfer case and was wondering if it will work in my 2003

I'm guessing no, the C/K is a vastly Different truck from Silverado but need more info is it a manual case or automatic....

Gonna lean towards no as the spline counts for the transfer case input and the spline count for the outputs may be different, also, the driveshafts on the 03 may be longer or shorter than the 1998 truck.
