thoughts on ziebarting or oil undercoating or just in general on this

wondering about oil undercoating or ziebarting on the new truck. Western pa, tons of salt and now the liquid brine which is eating cars here. can do a undercoat with oil for about 200 every few years, messy as hell though or looking into ziebart, which I will admit I know nothing about...

I use fluid film. I apply it every fall. I had a dealer tell me a spray undercoating along with rustproofing will void the warranty on my Tacoma and Toyotas are notorious for rust. My truck looked good for 7 years when i sold. I think it more important to clean the underside every chance you get as it is to treat it.

lots of rustproofed rustbuckets up here in salt country..... all you're really buying is the warranty the product does little if you don't take care of your vehicle. the mindset of some people I know is that they got the rustproofing so they don't wax or wash their trucks then wonder why it rusts anyways....

 

I had it done because I know that they offer a No BS warranty on bubbling that the OEM doesn't.

We have one in the shop right now, Toyota sequoia, that had the zeibarting done and it is still rusty and they drilled holes in the door jamb and put little plastic plugs in the holes. I don't know if this is how the do all of them but I would check real good before I let somebody jack your truck up like that.

my stuff is well taken care of, waxed twice a year and cleaned often. With the oil undercoating I know it works per say but it is messy as hell. oil everywhere for weeks. thought zeibart might be cleaner and as good.

I was consideirng an undercoat on my truck, the frame is very clean, however my friend pointed out, at this point with the truck being almost 6 years old, the frame of course does have some rust on it. So if I were to undercoat, I would eitehr need to sand down every bit of the frame, or I would be undercoating rust. I'll stick with just maintaining it well.

Some of the commercial undercoats have "rust inhibitors" in them... I've always rattle can undercoated my frames for looks more than anything... I said when I got a new truck I was going to take the time and POR 15 the frame but unless you strip the truck down you're never going to seal 100% of the frame anyways so what's the point

Yeah exactly, I think Im just gonna stick with the ol rattle can once it warms up
