have the battery checked and a starter draw test done ,,,hard starts with a warm/hot engine is usually a starter taking a crap

thanks to all the input!!

just say the starter was crapping out, will it drain the batterys when the truck is off?

this is the 4th battery and the battery i have in there now is fully charged and it holds the charge over night when i leave the positive cable off , so its not the battery! would the starter do this??

also when i put the battery cable back on with the key off, all the lights and gauges flick on for a second then off, is this normal??

the truck has 437853kms on it but maintained, checked all the grounds replaced what was needed to be replaced , had it scanned, no codes come up,

oh before i forget, sometimes when i start the truck up, the dash says reduce engine power, so i shut it off and start it back up and it goes away, and when it says reduce engine power the rpms are alittle high and there is nothing under the gas pedel when you push it down,... anyone heard of this? what might the cause be?

once again thanks for the help!!

i cant believe you never read about the reduced engine power msg ,,,your throttle body has tripped a code and is no good ,,it needs a reprogramming after replacement i believe ,,,others can chime in on that

as mentioned before a parasitic draw test needs to be done ,,,i doubt a starter would do it ,,,lights and gauges flickering after batt connect is normal

that many KM ,,,,its time to sell it ,,,its finished ,,,

there is no codes...had a scan done..it is fuel injection, not throttle body, so i am not sure about that now? would fuel injecters do this ( reduce engine power) ?

thanks

Your truck is fuel injected with a throttle body. Check codes when reduced engine power light is on. I've heard everything from the throttle body^ to the sending unit that is part of the gas pedal assembly to oxygen sensors reading rich or lean etc. Next time it comes on leave it on and have a scan done, dealership or auto parts store should do it for free. As for the battery drain, above suggestions are spot on.

Is there excessive corrosion on your battery terminals?

Yeah right, take it into the dealership, they will diagnose it, rebuild your rear end, charge you $3500, and tell you the problem is fixed.

Do you have any excess corrosion on your battery terminals?

lol , thats what they do!!! take your money and tell you its good to go!

the battery has no corrosion on the cables, even took them off and cleaned them just to be sure
