2011 electronic 4WD switch

I have a 2011 GMC 2500HD SLE...My boy noticed the last plow event that the 4WD switch was getting warm to the touch while in 4WD. Is this normal?

Mine does also. I noticed it was hot to the touch when driving home from the dealer when we purchased my truck (there was a snowstorm). I was worried and researched and found that they all do it to some extent. I don't think mine gets as warm as it did on that first trip, but it stills gets warm.

My 08 had the button and it would get warm to the touch. I love my manual shift lever on this 2012 and was never a big fan of the electronic push button.

In almost three years and 58,000 miles it hasn't spat flames from the switch yet so I think it's okay.
