Questions on building a Silverado

Hey everyone - new user to the forum. I'm a member on a few other GM forums (for my camaro and Tahoe/Avy) and stumbled upon this site. I've been following for a few weeks, as I'll most likely be trading in my Avalanche for a Silverado one of these days. Pretty good info so far.

Anyway, I'll soon be in the market for a 6.2 Silverado LTZ Z71 with a sunroof. I live in NJ and have had minimal luck finding these specific options through my search on cars.com, etc. I know the dealer can locate one for me, but I think my best bet is to just build one with all of the options I want.

So, my questions are: 1) when are the rebates applied? At order date or delivery date? My fear is that I could potentially pay more money 2-3 months down the road when the truck is actually delivered and 2) when is the latest I could build a 2014? I almost wonder if it's better to wait for a 2015 and just build one of those. I'm just not sure the earliest I could build one, nor how much more the base price would go up.

It's when you sign on the dotted line. I ordered one end of July last year. Came in a little sooner than I or dealer thought it would. I actually waited a couple days to take delivery because dealer thought they might have some rebates coming out after labor day. He was right, saved me some money.

Ordered mine the first part of January, no deal made until the truck shows up, the programs and incentives will only get better in the spring.

I just ordered my silverado 6.2. Took 8 weeks to build and receidve it. I don't think you will find ANY on a lot. You might find a high country. Rebates are applied when you take delivery.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I figured it was when I took delivery but wasn't positive. I've bought 3 new trucks the last few years but never built one. Now I just have to figure out whether I want a 2014 with a late build date or wait for a 2015. I'm not a fan of the high country, so building is probably my only option.

still find it funny how you get punished if the rebates are worse when delivered vs. ordered with gm.... Chrysler lets you choose either/or whatever is better.....

I am sitting at just shy of 15 weeks (106 days) since I placed my order. I signed the paperwork wrote them a check and gave them my trade about 3 hours ago. The kicker is I still don't have my truck. :banghead: It is at the distribution center either on a truck or waiting to be loaded. We needed to finish it up to avoid making another payment on my trade in. I could have it as early as tomorrow or as late as next week. Mine is sort of an odd duck. It is a bench seat LTZ with the 6.2 and max tow with camper mirrors. Not something you will typically see on a dealers lot.

You may consider waiting for the 2015s as the Mylink setup is supposed to be improved and support upgraded apps. There have also been rumors that the 6.2 may be constrained for a while due to the launch of the SUV's. Just a couple thoughts

Sounds like we have the same truck on order. I too have the bench seat, max tow, 6.2L, tow mirrors. In tungsten metallic, with cocoa dune interior.

Hello! It is my understanding that you are trying to locate a vehicle to purchase. I would be happy to look into seeing if I can locate a vehicle with the specifications that you are looking for. Please private message me including the vehicle you are looking to purchase, the specifications that you do and do not want, your zip code, and how far you are willing to travel to purchase the vehicle.
