Anyone have the dealer installed "wifi" hotspot?

Depending on the carrier you cant hotspot from the phone anymore. ATT does not allow you to hotspot your phone unless you pay for that feature. if you root your phone and they see you are using it as a hotspot they will warn you then start charging you for the service.

yes and no... On AT&T Android phones Hotspot and tethering is a built in app. If you have moved to AT&T mobile share, you know the Lily Adams point guard commercial, tethering is part of the plan. To be honest I would ask why anyone has not converted to that plan if you have more than one line. If you don't have more than one line now and add this option you will when done so you'd still be cheaper by adding a hotspot.

I see where they are offering 4G LTE in the fall but don't see the upgrade of existing systems... just sayin.

I know this isn't an answer to your question and I think the only advantage to have the system dealer installed is it then links up to MyLink for updates, downloads from the Chevy app. store, which I've heard 2014's are not getting

I have Verizon service and added what they call the MiFi. A little 4G LTE WiFi hub. I plug it in in the console to keep it charged. $5.00 a month and provides 5 connections. I leave it in the truck all the time. A very inexpensive alternative

I looked at the options including Autonet and decided to go with an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 4... added it to my family share and cost wise for both equipment and data are cheaper than anything else... I'll have to check to see if the rolling connecctivity is decent.

I'm going to console mount it for access to my OBDLink and Escort Live. It functions as a hotspot for up to 10 devices and can be connected via Bluetooth or USB to the factory head unit for Pandora... this gives me onboard wifi with portability and a few extras... not exactly he answer the OP was asking for but for the 2014s I think we are pretty limited with our options.

Did not buy it and do not use it... here's why. The option is expensive ~$500 for a 3G (not 4G LTE) hotspot. You have to have a monthly service in addition to the install. I believe the service is through Verizon so if you aren't a current subscriber (I'm AT&T) you would have to buy the service without a multi-line discount. I think in the long run for both cost, speed and functionality you'd be better off, as someone else here said, buying a portable hot spot from your current carrier. The 2015s are getting a 4G hotspot as part of Onstar and AT&T but it looks like the ship has left port for the 2014s.

Also keep in mind that several carriers including Verizon have started indicating that 3G service is approaching end of life. The move is to all 4G LTE networks. May not happen for a year or two but at some point before your warranty expires this system will be obsolete whereas a portable hotspot could be upgraded numerous times for the cost of this installed option. Just saying...
