Seized Battery Bracket Bolt

Recommended Posts

Battery took a dump today. Weather has been atrocious-all said, things could be worse. Went out and got a replacement. Bracket bolt rusted and seized to hell. PB Blastered the heck out of it. Waiting and nothing. Wrenched on it with a 3/8 drive socket and cheater bar and.... BAM the bolt broke free. Or it broke. I can't get the bracket out and the bolt just spins freely in it.

Any suggestions?

I threw the new battery in and the lip of it just floats under the bracket now. I don't think the battery will move much but I'd feel better having it secured.

Thanks in advance.

Just replaced the tray in my 02....my old one was obviously in better shape than yours though. You can find brand new ones on eBay and the price isn't that bad.

I'm going to keep an eye on my 10.... Where the bolt is it would be an absolute nightmare to deal with (can't see it)

The bottom of that bolt is on the underside of the wheel well IIRC. Mine just spins as well and I got it loosened a couple turnes before it wouldn't go any more. It has been like that now for almost 5 years. The battery barely moves, and if I was that worried, i would go get some high density foam and wedge it between the battery and the fender brace. Won't ever move then.
