2002 Silverado fuel system problem

I have a 2002 Silverado 3500 tried to start it but no good, fuel pump wasn't turning on. Replaced the fuel pump and changed the relay in fuse block, new fuel filter, still not working and the new fuel pump isn't kicking on. This truck has dual tanks and cannot see a fuel pump in the front just the rear tank. Any ideas of what can be wrong. I have a utility bed on so everything has to be done from under the truck..

Attach a voltmeter to the power and ground of the connector at the fuel pump. Are you getting 12V +/-?

 

You will have to be measuring while someone else turns the key in the ignition. The pump will only run for 2-3 seconds once the key is turned to accessory so you'll have to read quickly.

Are you sure you don't have two fuel pumps? I know dual tank suburbans have one in each. One is a transfer pump, iirc. Better look closer.

I'll drop the front fuel tank tomorrow and see if there is one there also.

Got it fixed. I guess the front pump is the main pump and that is the one that was bad. I guess the rear pump is just a transfer pump. Waste of money on that pump but at least I'm running again.
