MJFlores Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I know a lot of people complain about this new valve in the exhaust, and some have removed it. What exactly does it do? Is it just to make the truck quieter? Does it help keep exhaust in the pipe longer so it reburns in the cat for cleaner emissions? Just wondering what it's purpose is. For those who have removed it, did you notice any effect on gas mileage? Mine hasn't given me any trouble, but being in New England with the freezing, then heat and humidity it doesn't seem smart to leave a rusty metal peice on a hinge in the exhaust pipe as I would think that sooner or later it's going to stick shut. Just looking at options...and am very hesitant to mess with the truck as the gas mileage in phenomenal for a V8.
VMaxtastic Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 It apparently makes it drone less in V4 mode. I cut mine out the same day it first left me stranded.
MJFlores Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 That's all it does is stop drone while in V4? WOW. I'm guessing there's probably no effect on gas mileage then after removal? Yeah, I think I'll be having mine yanked out of there too.
