The rear brakes have been destroyed to the spash gaurd. Is this important? Should I get a new splash guard or let it go

I can't seem to find the procedure on the AllDatadiy site. Does the axle have to come out?

Yes. Unless you purchase a 2 piece aftermarket version to use.

I looked on the Dorman site and could only find one piece. Do you know of any companies that make a split?

Also, this has the 4 wheel steer so the Rotor is different, don't know about the backing plate. It is a differnt axle than the other 2500s.

From research, it appears that I can pull the hub and replace the splash guard. 10 years of rust is going to make that a job but it is doable. I was a bear just gettting the brakes off with all the corrosion.

yes you have hubs ,,,,you will HAVE to replace the inner seal

they are a 2 pc seal and 99% of the time the inner part stays on the the splindle ,,,,,,,you must remove this pc or SEVERE HUB/BEARING/AXLE SPINDLE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR !!!

hub nut torque is 55lbs (special tool required for installation and torque)

then back of nut and then to zero torque (just put up against bearing )

there are axle flange gaskets avail from GM if ya like

Thanks, great advice I did not see on the research, -3 out tonight. I am going to leave the splash shield until it is a bit warmer, the way it is going now, looks like April.
