beachtaco Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Anyone found a site to order longer steel braided brake lines for the 2014?
iCryWheniGoPoop Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I take it you don't have anyplace local to build them for you? I can get them made at a couple placed here in Tulsa, I just take a factory one up and tell them how long I want them. Hell.... I even get color choices. I haven't ordered custom lines for my cars or bikes in years. Edit.... I'm not sure where you are located in VA but there is 1 Brakequip Dealer in Richmond and 3 more within 100 miles of Richmond. I would start there, that is the brand that my local shop uses for my custom lines.
beachtaco Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 thanks for the information. i found 2 local Brakequip local dealers and will give them a call later this week.
TxTruckMan Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Why? Isn't the braid just for apearance? They're all stainless on the inside, right?
iCryWheniGoPoop Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Why? Isn't the braid just for apearance? They're all stainless on the inside, right? I have had several track cars and I can verify that steel braiding is not just for appearance. You can actually feel the difference between a spongy pedal and a firm pedal, especially after 10-15 laps on a tight technical course. I'm not sure how much if any you will gain on a street vehicle, especially a truck, but how can you put a price on a little extra safety, even if its just peace of mind I guessing that he is getting new lines because he is lifting his truck and just needs longer lines but hell... who knows.... the guy may just want shiny brake lines! LOL
beachtaco Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 like iCryWhenIGoPoop said, there is a difference. And from driven lifted trucks and jeeps in the past, I definitely swap out the rubber hoses out for the steel braided hoses. Especially, I hate when lift manufacturers who just bend existing hard lines and brackets to adjust for the factory rubber lines when you do a lift.
Plwtwo Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Takes out the sponginess in the brake pedal that the crappy rubber lines provide! I've changed to SS braided lines on every vehicle Ive had- on race bikes I wouldn't dare use rubber brake lines!
