Pearl Harbor

Reflecting on what happened on this date in 1941 @ Pearl Harbor got me to thinking about all our soldiers and veterans out there.  I think it's fitting today to honor them all.  The events @ Pearl Harbor and also on Sept. 11 truly showed what our country is made of - in every sense.

I want to thank all our soldiers and veterans for being there when we need(ed) you - freedom does not come cheap - there is a price to pay.  My guess is that this will always be so.

Again, THANK YOU!!

For many yrs i have heard seen some footage of pearl harbor.

Until the movie pearl harbor (minus the love story stuff) i did not realize all of what happened

All of our nations heroes (past and present) deserve a salute from the citizens that they protect.  War is never a good thing, but if you are in one you want the backing of the strongest military around and a good thing because that's us.  Pearl Harbor was very devestating because it was a surprise attack and many lost there lives.  But september 11th was worse becuase thousands lost there lives and they were all civilians.  But, as in both tragedies we will prevail.

And on a side note, I'm almost sickened by the fact that every movie made now has a love story in it.  "Hannibal" even had a love story (well almost).  A good move that I saw was "the last castle"  if you like war type movies it's a good one.

another good one was "behind enemy lines" saw it the day after it came out and it was packed.  Great movie though, lots of good action scenes and Owen Wilson was pretty funny in parts, his best movie was "shanghai noon" w/ jackie chan.  Tons of laughs, it had a love story, but those are okay for a comedy.

I've had the oppertunity to work with people that were actually on ships during Pearl Harbor and who fought in WW2 and the Korean war.  We owe a lot to all veterans who help keep our country strong.  Some of these people were real decorated heroes, but they wouldn't even consider themselves such.  Their heroes were their fellow solders who died.  My dad and uncle were little boys and watched the planes flying over Honolulu on Dec. 7, they just thought it was the army playing war games until a couple of bombs caught Chinatown on fire.  My grandfather went down to help fight the fires.

anyone watch the national geographic special about pearl harbor on NBC last night?  I thought it was very good.  I learned some things i never knew like that mini subs were used by the japanese and the US actual shot at one.  THe US ignored a few signs of an invasion also.

Both my grandpas were in wars.  One was in WWII and the other in the korean war.  Both in the navy.  My grandpa has many pictures.  Its very interesting listening to old stories
