Tow/haul lock converter tune

Im thinking about a bb tune. Some people say they had T/H programed to keep the converter locked. What does this mean and what are the benefits to keeping the converter locked in T/H?

A torque converter is a fluid coupling between the engine and transmission...

A fluid couple works like a clutch in a way, to apply detach power from the two..

The engine speed is always greater than the output after the converter, because the 3 part converter is essentially a fluid pump...

When a torque converter locks, all three parts to the converter work in unison, creating way less heat, and you now have a 1:1 tatio between the transmission and engine...

When the converter is unlocked, the engine and transmission are not spinning the same speeds because the fluid is allowed to pass, allowing torque multiplication...

^^^Pretty much sums it up.

Basically just better performance and mileage is why they do it. You cant have it locked all the time though.
