Help! Lag/slow shifting/acceleration

Recommended Posts

Posted

In my 94 GMC Sierra, 350 2wd, I have problems shifting/ accelerating in the 40-50 and some times 50-60 mph range. there is a lag there and even the rpms stay constant, even when i put the pedal to the floor. They won't move and then after a while, it decides to accelerate and then it will go. someone asked me if it was maybe not firing on all 8. also once the truck gets warmer after i have driven it for a while, it decides to really sputter on accelerating. it shakes bad in Overdrive once it is in the 180+ range after driving it for a while.

any suggestions?

Thx,

Does it feel like you are driving over rumble strips or a wash board? If so you may have a torque converter going out. I exploded my tranny 6 months ago and had AAMCO build it. Then last week the tranny started shuddering while locking up.I called them and they said it was the torque converter and they would replace it, under warrenty thank god. I paid 3 grand for that tranny. Those guys were great, I took the Z in on friday morning and they wern't able to get to it until late that afternoon. I explained as I live 89 miles from there I had to have my truck back. They stayed until 8:30 pm to get me back into my truck. They also upgraded the valve body. So far everything seems great but I have noticed how it shifts a touch harder than it used to.
