After almost 270,000 miles if know there gotta be some sort or regular internal wear and tear on my engine. I would like to eventually put a tune on it but I'm afraid it will just break stuff, what all should be gone through and replaced if I wanna get my engine back to or as close as factory as I can ??

The only thing I could think of (from my old gasser days) would be valve springs and timing chain...and I'm not even sure these engines have a timing chain (gear?)? Maybe an oil pump? Injectors?

 

Much of anything else would required a complete rebuild.

Ball park, How much would a re-build be in parts alone ??

Spend the money you would be spending on a tune (plus some....) on purchasing a 6.0 to drop in. If you still want more power, you can tune the 6.0 just the same.
