Blower resistor went out :(

The blower resistor on my 07 Silverado Classic went out. The number 4 fan speed doesn't work, but all others work. This has happened 5 years ago but since the truck had remaining warranty, I had it replaced. Since I don't want this issue to come back again, what can I do to prevent it? I know I need to replace this part.

You mean the connector?

It's generally suggested to replace both pieces, because their is usually heat damage

It's a known issue. Over time, the resistors for the lower fan speeds degrade due to heat. Nothing you can do about it.

IMHO it's an easy fix, and not worth losing sleep over a $40 part. Buy two, so you have a spare.

I might buy two. Since that second resistor lasted 5 years, I got nothing to lose. Speaking of blower resistor, I had replace one on my 1991 Toyota Corolla since the low speed wasn't working but the others were. the part cost me about $10 I think going back to 2010 and it still works fine. It was a BWD brand.

The resistor crapped out on my 01 back in 2007, so I replaced it. It's been fine ever since.

Bought the part from the dealer.
