Shifting Transmission on cold engine

Not a problem I don't think but just wanting to see if this is normal. when my truck is cold if I shift it before it tachs down below 900 or so the shift to drive has a bit of a thump to it. Not terrible but it is very slick at normal idle of 550 rpm's. I usually just wait till it tachs down but I noticed that in my Camry it is the same whether cold or warm....smooth !!

so you're comparing a toyo car to a GM truck shift characteristics ?

yeah don't worry about it.....
