Mine was doing it when I first got the truck and I had some leaf springs that were not tight . One problem that I actually eliminated! Just got the vibration issues to deal with now :(

The truck hasn't made this noise at all in a couple of weeks (since it last rained). Last night I got back from the beach (7 hours away) and hosed off the truck thoroughly to remove salt/sand and other road grime and of course sprayed the undercarriage very thoroughly. This morning the noise was the worst it's ever been for the first few minutes of driving as before and then it stopped. This is definitely moisture caused and related to the rear leaf springs from what I can tell.

I am on my second 2014 double cab Z71 because of this issue. I figured the first one was a lemon as I have owned several Z71's. At about mile 5,000 on this one it started doing the same thing as you have described above. The dealership tells me its because of dirt in the leaf springs! Again, I have owned several Z71's, as has my family, and never had an issue with this. It pops and snaps as I turn corners and creaks and chafes as I go over uneven terrain, particuarly in reverse. As instructed by the dealership, I wash out the undercarriage and my springs. This only works temporarily as I am a forester and am in the woods nearly every day but am not abusing the truck. In addition, the exhaust valve in the muffler "chirps" when I press the gas.

At this point the dealership says that I am the only one with this issue and must be an issue with me and the truck is fine, although they do acknowledge the noise! All they do is tell me to wash it out and send me packing. I have even detailed the truck and THEN is starts creaking as the guy above describes. Its good to know others are having the same problems. You can bounce on my bumper and it sounds like an old bed spring.

Let me know if y'all figure anything out. I am waiting for aftermarket leaf springs to hit the shelves.

Exactly same issue with my double cab. Worse in Reverse for sure. Dealer confirmed.. ordered new leaf springs last week for my truck. Also the folks at GM (tech line) confirmed on going issue with leaf springs.. it was in the comments on my order.

I should have the new springs installed this week. Will let you all know. This is only thing that make me hate my truck right now.

Had both leaf springs and bushings replaced. Problem is solved for now!! Just hope it doesn't start up in another 8,000 miles..

1,000 miles later,, the noise started back up. I honestly don't know what to do now. I'll just keep bringing it back to the dealership. Looks like I'll be stuck with a squeaky piece of shit for the next 6 years. I guarantee this will be the last time I own a gm truck

Eagle.. don't tell me that man! They just replaced one leaf spring on mine last week... it fixed 80% of the noise... I love it. They are going to replace the other spring tomorrow to get the leftover noise.

Without a doubt the springs are causing most the creaking sounds everyone is hearing. Shocks are also to blame in some cases ( I had a shock replaced a while back as well)

Add me to the list. Mine makes a "pung" sound when backing up and turning in the driveway, and sometimes while turning and going forward. I can briefly reproduce the sound by hopping up and down pn the corner of the bumper, when it stops I can move to the other corner and make it happen. My guess was something with the leaf springs. I have to tell you...I have so many issues with this truck that this new one is pretty far down on the list. I LONG for the day when I can have a truck, turn the key, and drive it without beng bombarded with shakes, noises, shift slams, etc.

Got truck back today.. both springs have been replaced. Truck is quiet as a mouse now. I just hope it stays that way. 10 trips to the dealer in 11 months... finally got all the little bugs worked out.

Anybody familiar with the lemon law on vehicles? Just curious as to what it is or what it pertains to?

Wow, didn't think there were so many people who are experiencing this...My noise just started about 2 months ago, I have RC 2.5" level/lift kit installed, I wonder if I take it in will the dealership give me crap for having this installed?

Oh well, I plan to take it Monday to see what they say.

Noise is only coming from the rear..and only from a stop and go movement, like reverse or drive.

Any kind of TSB or reference I can give the techs to maybe expedite this? Thanks for any help.
