2014 Z71 Creaks/noises

My 2014 silverado z71 only has 7,000 miles on it and everything was doing good on it until a few weeks ago. I had several boxes in the bed when I noticed a popping or creaking noise when turning or backing up. Took all the boxes out but it still made noise. Not suspension. Lubed shocks and leaf springs, and Tightened spare tire. Sounds like it's coming from somwhere around the rear end or rear axle. I have no idea what it is. Any idea???

Mine is doing the exact same thing, mine had a similar sound coming from the front recently and it happened to be a bad strut which was replaced under warranty. This sound, similar to what you're experiencing doesn't seem to be the same thing from my guess, its only when backing up and/or turning.

me too... more notably when backing up over an uneven surface and turning at the same time. I tighten the left pack below.. no help.

Yep backing up out of the driveway is when I notice it the most and cut the wheel. I have to think it's the weight of the truck shifting in the turn and the noise we hear is the reaction of the suspension. Most likely the leaf springs. Only seems to do it in the morning when there's some dew/moisture in the air. I don't hear it after that as things dry up a bit as the day warms.

yep....wet seems to be worse. I was able to tighten the leaf spring bolts about 1/2 each....didn't help. Seems like the sound has to be the leaf pack or the maybe the shocks ...dont know.

Yeah I'm not going to worry too much. It doesn't sound like a bad noise or anything to worry about. The shocks still feel fine. I do plan to replace them with Bilsteins as soon as they become available.

my truck does it too. I had a shock replaced recently out back, and had the dealer tighten all the rear suspension. Still has a slight noise.

Dunno what it could be. I can only hear it at low speeds, like idling forward, with the rear sliding window open on a quiet road

I also had one rear shock replaced already. Did fix the major "creak" issue I had.. but I still get some in the right conditions.

Went to dealership. They replaced left side leaf springs, and it still makes the noise. I have no idea what to do now. I'm about tired of this shit. There's no reason for a brand new truck to be doing this. I guess I just need to sell it because obviously with all the recalls and this these trucks aren't worth a shit

Dealer is opening the rear diff next Wednesday. Mine appears to be loud axle play.

Oh, and I get a new steering rack to go with the column they already put in

I finally admit that this truck is a POS

I think these Rancho shocks are all the issue. Anyone know when someone else will make shocks for these trucks?
