2014 Z71 Creaks/noises

Can't remember if anyone said this or not but has anyone tried spraying WD-40 in the leaf springs to see if that cures the noise? I'm thinking it's the metal on metal rubbing sound that we hear as the weight of the truck shifts around and the lubricant might cure that.

I bet the leafs in the spring assembly rubbing together rubs the finish on the leafs off where they make contact with one another exposing the metal. The reason we hear it when there's excessive moisture in the air is because the moisture causes slight surface rust to form on the exposed metal. The noise we hear is the surface rust rubbing together. It stops after a few minutes of driving because the surface rust has worn itself off and it's bare metal again that is also now silent. Until moisture affects it again.

That's my theory. If that's correct then replacing the springs would only last but so long unless GM has addressed the issue.

Hello all...14 Z71....totally making me nuts. Tonight it's cooler in tampa and I can really hear thumping, etc from pass side front...pressed on front as well can hear noise from pass side front. Last trip to dealer..."we hear it but everything looks normal..." Could it be a strut or shock...? Again it's only at low speeds on somewhat uneven roads...at highway speeds noise gets less evident. Thanks all!,

Obviously GM isn't listening and or hearing any of us. I spoke with a Midwest regional rep today regarding the serious issues surrounding the whole leaf spring and rear end play issues on my 2016 Z71 Silverado. His message was essentially GM doesnt give a damn, keep getting it greased under warranty, then pay out of your own pocket afterward, if you don't like it trade it in for a fraction of its true value and repeat the process on another GM POS vehicle. Turn the radio up or put mud tires on it to drown out the sounds of parts failing. Customer to eat all expenses. Dealer to make more $ at the customers expense. Unless bolts are falling off the vehicle in the driveway they aren't going to do much. There are real reasons why GM was headed to bankruptcy several years ago, and stories like this don't help their long term image or credibility. Wish the govt would have said no to the assistance back then. They have an inferior product with real defects and don't want to permanently fix any of it, or help out the customer. I can guarrantee you my family will NEVER purchase another GM vehicle no matter how good a deal they try to offer. Other vehicle manufacturers have their issues too, but nothing holds a candle to the issues I've had with my GM truck, and how the dealership and even GM are choosing to handle the situation. Vote with your wallets. Buyer beware.
