Transmission shifting

Ever since the purchase of my new '14 sierra, the automatic transmission seems to not know what gear to select and results in having to lay on the gas in order to down shift and get enough power to accelerate properly. Just like the clunking noise in the rear end, my dealer says its normal. It's a V6 and 4x4.

Anyone else experience this problem and/or had it resolved?

Trans are now programmed for max MPG and not driving performance, so what you're experiencing is normal. It tries to up shift every chance it gets, so if your on / off / then on gas in rapid succession, or light on gas, the trans will feel like it's lost.

This isn't only a GM thing.. most manufactures are doing similar. Only remedy is an aftermarket trans tune.

It's funny you mentioned "light on gas" because I have noticed that if I'm low on fuel I have noticed it acts up more. Guess it has something to do with weight.

I drove a basemodel dodge ram, with a hemi, and it most certainly did not act like these Gm's. For that, I must disagree with your statement Moto. I could not believe how snappy that thing was. It felt like a tuned GM.

Try this...once up to 20 to 30 miles per hour, hit the tow button. I do it all the time now when driving back roads, hills, etc. It keeps the trans from shifting up so high and keeps the RPM up just bit. Stoo get great gas mileage but an improved ride. If things will be constant, say highway or long straights with cnstant speed, I hot the Town button again and let it shift. Not perfect but it helps.
