Purchased new 2014 silverado, and declined extended warranty

Is there a certain grace period on extended warranties? In case I have changed my mind? I have read since its first year model that warranty may be worth purchasing. I do still have 3 yr 36000 mile bumper to bumper. Which I assumed is best warranty coverage but according to dealer they offer major guard which supposedly covers more than bumper to bumper? Any suggestions, advice, or experiences you have had with warranties? Is bumper to bumper really not good?

I believe you have till the end of the 36K warranty to purchase another. Don't worry when you get near the end you will get several letters wanting to sell you the extended plan.

No warranty covers more than bumper to bumper. Major Guard doesn't cover some things b to b covers. It's still the best extended warranty out there for the customer.

I bought an extended warranty on my 2014 after all the problems I had with my 2007. I recommend them on a first year model. Like others have said you can buy it later toward the end of your bumper to bumper warranty. I paid for it up front by rolling it into my loan and I wish I didn't because it probably would have been cheaper to buy it later. Especially since it contributing to the interest now. You probably did the right thing declining it now but I recommend buying it at the end of your bumper to bumper.

Skip it.

You gamble that you'll need it. They gamble that you won't ....who do you think wins that bet?

I hear you guys. Good info. I also had all the warranties on 2007 vehicle I bought in past and never used it once. Why I made the decision this way. Ok I've always got calls if I'd like to purchase warranty but I got those calls even when I purchased the additional warranty with my previous vehicle so I was hesitant to trust the phone calls trying to sell me warranty. Will bumper to bumper cover labor costs? I do remember the finance person telling me that major guard would cover labor, parts etc,... But he was trying to make a sell...

The best price will be to purchase before the end of the first year and under 12,000 miles. After that the price goes up considerably.
