Cracked temp sensor housing on 97 gmc 5.7 l

I just did a complete tune up on my 97 gmc , because it had started to run rough when ever I came to a stop so I changed out the cap/rotor/plugs/plug wires/egr valve/ maf/ and airfilter , but it was still running rough when ever I came to a stop . so I figured might a s well change temp sensor next to thermostat housing which seem pretty straight forward ., but alas that was not the case, the old one came out no problem but when I put the new one in I apparently must have tightened it too much although the base of the sensor is not even touching the housing, it has cracked the housing. so now I need a little advise . if and only if I haven't managed to crack the housing all the way around to the bottom side of the housing and its only cracked at the threads is it possible to apply some JB weld or even high temp thread lock to seal the crack on the threads of the housing or should I just change the intake and be done with it . any help with this would be appreciated thanx !!

+1 on a new one. Also the base of the sensor is not suppose to touch. Those sensors have tapered thread and the thread make the seal. The more you tighten them the tighter the thread get and form the seal.

thanx for all the replys and your right I did not look close enough the sensor does have a tapered thread when I first looked at it I thought it was just straight bore but it does taper off ,my bad for not looking closer. again thanx for the help. I have decided to give threadlock a try as I only cracked the first 4 threads down so here is hoping it works if not really nothing to lose at this point. will report back if it was successful or not . HAVE A GOOD ONE !!
