Trailer Wiring harness, special part?

Recommended Posts

My truck did not come with the trailering package, but I have a "harness" behind the plate on the left side of my tag. I recently bought a Reese hitch setup, but have run into a problem.

Do I need some kind of special adapter to plug into a standard 7 way harness? Or will I forever have this gaping hole next to my tag?

I may be an idiot so any help will work.

The harness I got came with the right adapter.

Having trouble following what the issue is...you don't have the GM plug above the bumper and got an after market one, correct? The GM plug is now a combo with 4 way flat and 7 way round in one connector (two covers). Is this the issue?

I have the harness behind it, but i don't have the actual piece. Mine is just blank, with the harness behind it. What would you call that part? I want yours.

I would call my dealer parts guy and ask him for the part that is the trailer combo plug on the bumper side.
