Markeaux Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 I had to replace the high note on my 01 Tahoe after only 1yr, and three times on my 98 Z28. Supposedly they can easily take in water and go out.

Its embarassing to use in a truck -KMT15 Same here! Everytime I'm out driving with my G/F and I use the horn, she laughs....she says..."for a truck this size, it sure does have a wussie horn" I think her VW Beetle has a louder, deeper horn. I NEED TO FIX THIS! Any replacements suggested other than OEM? I want a horn that will make her jump in her seat when I hit it...
k1500chevy97 Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 Any replacements suggested other than OEM? I want a horn that will make her jump in her seat when I hit it... How about something like this ..... Just see her jump when you push down on the foot switch
Z71GUY Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 LMAO! Thats a bit bigger than what I had in mind....but you do have my thinking....
Shaners Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 My HD horn is pretty good IMO... It attracts attention when I need it too.
Z71GUY Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 My HD horn is pretty good IMO... It attracts attention when I need it too. I think my horn is half dead. I hardly used it when I bought the truck years ago. Now that I live closer to Pittsburgh, it gets used alot in traffic and thats when we noticed it sounding very "wussie like" as she puts it. My friends that have 99-02's Silverados, their horns are much louder and deeper. Mine sounds like what KMT said...very high pitched...something you'd hear on a small import car. I've been thinking about buying an OEM horn...but I never priced them and figured I'd upgrade it a bit. No airhorns though...
Tungsten Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 I had the same problem. Your high ton horn is not working I bet, GM got real smart of how they installed them, If you look the horns "outlet" part is facing up, so its pretty much a funel to catch all the rain water, and it just dies after awhile. Auto Zone has the same horns thats our truck came with stock. I think they are $10.00 a peice.
