MORE RECALLS!

I don't think there is a permanent fix for the loose seat problem. I was going to take mine in for ANOTHER( fourth or fifth) fix. This shit is getting old . These aren't new first year design flaws with the new engines or trannys. type stuff. This is elementary type issues. I do not feel GM has our safety in mind any longer. Im trying to stay on the same team after 5 new Silverados in the last 7 years but....! Hell even my $10.00 toilet seat dosent shift around like this thing. :M16:

Why continue to self impose the frustration on yourself? Get rid of it.

When you loose confidence in a manufacturer, especially if you feel it's safety related, it's time to move on. You've made the leap from 'your truck may have safety issues' to 'GM doesn't care about safety'. Take control of your life and change the situation.

Toyota doesn't recall until they get sued, then they blame it on the floor mats.

And this is any different from GM how?

It actually took an act of congress and even after that they blame heavy key chains lol, Stop making excuses for GM, they deserve every bit of this crap storm they brought on themselves to save .003 cents per vehicle.

Why make issues personal when some of us are having real issues. Ive also had great things to say about the truck. All I want is my seat fixed. I did get rid of the first 2014 silverado thinking I only had a early first run issue. Gave em a second chance and traded it for a later one. Has been over a year, still no fix. Like most of people ,Im not made of money. Im just saying look, Its a seat. They (GM) have been placing seats in trucks for decades. You want to trade seats. I suspect not. Besides Im not the one in front of Congress having to explain the cover up of neglect that resulted in peoples death. GM is. Ill say it again. GM, can you just fix the F-ing seat.

Maybe this is a fix for the wobbly seat issue?

My dad took his in this week complaining about the seat and their response was "GM knows about this and there is still no fix"

Strange thing is I have no seat movement in mine

I didn't intend to bash you. But you voiced a distinct lack of confidence that GM cared about their customer safety. If you believe that, you really should do something to stop using a product you lack confidence in. I certainly would immediately change something to mitigate my exposure to a perceived hazard.

This.

If I genuinely thought that GM didn't care about making the vehicle I'm driving safe for me and my family, I'd ditch it like a bad habit.

It actually took an act of congress and even after that they blame heavy key chains lol, More companies than GM use the same switch. GM is just the current media whipping boy. Get off your "I hate GM" bandwagon. Stop making excuses for GM, they deserve every bit of this crap storm they brought on themselves to save .003 cents per vehicle. Source please?

I offer you my most profound apologies. I was completely unaware that we had a poster on here who has the majority of their posts (I checked) bashing GM.

I don't want to offend someone with such huge internet muscles.

I'm done with you. You made me scareded!

Just arrived home after visiting two different Dodge dealerships. Rough estimate trade in value is a hard pill to swallow. I wonder if contacting the company that makes the seat and see if they could help resolve this seat problem would help? I think someone has posted the company name somewhere on previously. Besides, I am a creature of habit. Old habits are hard to break. It just feels alien to drive anything else than a Chevy.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but if my seat wiggled I would get a flashlight and mirror, or a cell phone video camera, and get a fat buddy of mine to sit in it and rock and try to see where it is moving. Just because it is under warranty does not mean that you can't tighten up a bolt or at least point out to the service writer which rail is bad and wiggling. I have had a couple of old hoopty cars/trucks over the years that felt like they had grandpaw's rocker in them when I got them and was always able to fix them. Harbor Freight/Northern Tool, and Amazon have inspection cameras for 50 bucks or so that are great for finding little problems (and lost cell phones that slid down/between the seats). No way in hell would I switch to a Dodge just because a seat wiggles. I have had Chrysler products and Fiats, and with Ram being the spawn of that strange marriage, there is no way that I would want to own one when it is out of warranty.

Agree 100%.

Sometimes if you can point out what you found, it'll get resolved that much quicker too.

There are posts on here that solve the seat wobble with a couple of hose clamps. Spend the $4 and 15 minutes it will take to address the issue. AND QUIT THINKING/WHINING ABOUT IT. GM or the rest of us here ain't gonna make it better for you with more posts about the same gripe.

Problem solved. And you won't take a big hit to drive a Dodge (jeeze, ain't nothing about these trucks that is that bad to put me in a damn Dodge).

No apologies needed, if you want to babble on about Toyota and floor mats go right ahead because no one here with a shred of common sense cares about what Toyota does when discussing GM recalls and congressional hearings as of late pertaining to their ignition problem!

And yes you figured me all out patriot as I have owned nothing but GM product for the last 2 and half decades of my life how about you? GM could only wish to have another ten million GM haters just like me! So if you want to sit here and make excuses for GM executives that put profits over peoples lives and just as important the reputation of this company, and that has been proven by the way, then by all means do so. Just don't get all bent out of shape when you get called out on it!

As for the topic above and the seat problem lol at anyone who thinks hose clamps is a acceptable fix on a 50,000 dollar truck! Temp fix fine, but I would want GM to fix it the right way eventually, but that's just me and according to Patriot I guess that makes me a GM hater as he calls it.

never said it was acceptable given the prices we pay.

But it is a real solution. Sometimes you gotta just accept the fact that GM and their dealers won't make everything we'd like right. No matter how infuriating that may be. At least a solution exists for this situation, if we decide to not wait for the proper or correct option to appear.

    • have you stuck with dealer oil changes since then? I made the same switch after getting tired of crawling around under the truck, but I’ve found some dealers are way better than others about getting you in quickly. Curious if yours has been good about scheduling or if you’ve had to look elsewhere for quicker turnaround.
    • Thank you.   I am set on a 3.0 Duramax as my previous truck with a Ford Ecoboost had just as many, if not more, "common" issues.  Cam phasers, timing chain issues, 10-speed valve body and CDF drum, emissions issues, etc.  So I figured, why not get 2x the fuel mileage (these things got 27+mpg on every mixed city/highway test drive I put them through) and better towing capability with resale value to boot?   My minimum, shortest trip will be 50 miles 1-way and I regularly go out of state with a travel trailer.  I'm planning on using this for a marketing/event promotion business also, which would require regular towing of trailers for bands, DJs, sound and lighting gear, along with my personal camera gear for filming events.   Looked at other trucks in the $30k+ price range but the issues seem to be everywhere, plus too many with gaudy mods.  I'm literally sticking with RWD trucks because they tend to be actually used as trucks, vs. the 4x4 models I've seen with unsafe lifts, huge tires, and general mods that would affect reliability (I'm wondering if some of them were tuned, hence the aggressive throttle response and hard shifting).   So my goal is to find a stock, 3.0 with 1 or 2 owners, in good physical condition, and decently well maintained.  Can't seem to find that up here, everything in the $27-30k range has had multiple owners, smoke smell, issues, or body damage.  Or the ridiculously modified trucks with 80k miles for under $27k but lots of problems...
    • That’s pretty tough Grumpy. I reread the previous few posts. They all reference oil changes. Much like your last thread. In my humble opinion it keeps things interesting.
    • Engine Wear and ISO 4406   1.) Cold Starts. 2.) High Particle Count. 3.) Low operating temperature viscosity and high low temperature cranking viscosity. 4.) Depleted AW, Friction and Acid packages.  5.) High engine load.    https://me.caltexlubricants.com/en_me/home/learning/from-chevron/heavy-duty-diesel-vehicles-and-equipment/The-Importance-of-Clean-Engine-Oil-and-Its-Impact-on-Equipment-and-Business-Performance.html   High particle counts have five sources. 1.) They are manufactured within the engine. Both wear debris and amalgamation of degradation products and combustion driven soot (worse in GDI). 2.) They are ingested via intake air. Ever hear the best oil filter is a good air filter? 3.) They are entrained in the fuel. 4.) This one is insidious. They are introduced in 'fresh oil'. 5.) They are introduced during the oil change.   ISO 4406 is the test that measures and quantifies the combine effects of all of the above particle related issues. You can mitigate your way into multiples of engine life by being attentive to them all.    https://www.hyprofiltration.com/blog/is-new-oil-clean   (from the link above)    [Quote] What Is the Recommended ISO 4406 Cleanliness Code for New Oil?   A good upper limit for new oil cleanliness is 16/14/11 (ISO 4406). Typical new oil usually has ISO codes of 19/17/15 or worse, which is far too dirty for sensitive components. This can be a major cause of degradation and premature failure.
