New HD Mirrors

I just ordered a 2015 (.5) Sierra Denali 3500HD Crew Long Duramax on Wed 10/29. After doing research on the mirrors (since this was a deal breaker for me) we figured out that ALL of the 2015 Denali HD ˇrucks built after August 14th will have the DQS Power Fold Premium Mirrors. They are Standard on the 3500 and a stand alone option on the 2500. I'm not sure about the SLT trim or Chevy Models, but I would imagine they would follow suit with the High Country/LTZ models. I know for a fact that my 2015.5 has the DQS Mirrors on the order. My dealer also has a 2015.5 Denali 2500HD in stock, and it has the mirrors listed as an individual option. A good way to see what has them and what doesn't is by looking on Cars.com to see what trucks in dealers inventory have them and what ones do not.

I just saw a newer 2015 double cab with the brown paint and tow mirrors lit up. It looked really nice love those new lighted mirrors .

Are the connections there if you want to add them or do you need a new harness ? I'm just talking about the non power folding ones.

I ordered the power adjustable Black Heated Outside Mirrors ( delux Camper Mirrors ) on my 2015 2500 HD Sierra SLE Diesel pickup . The truck came with just the standard side mirrors. They are lovely power folding, heated , chrome etc., but they were totally unsuitable as I use the truck to haul my 5th wheel trailer.

My dealer was very helpful, and offered to swap my mirrors for a set on a new 2500 gas truck on the lot. those mirrors were the black extendable with side marker lights and cargo lights - great looking mirrors and all that I wanted - no power fold. The mirrors swapped out great, but the cargo lights and side markers would not work - no big deal as I only wanted the extendable mirrors with power adjust and the heaters.

Shortly after, my check engine light came on, and the code was for "Ambiant Air Temperature" . The dealer cleared the code, and it came back on as soom as I drove away. made an appointment to get it fixed today. Hard to tell , because the truck is so new, but I feel that my fuel consumption has also gone for a crap.

Now the BAD NEWS - dealer now tells me that the ambient air temp sensor that is causing the code is inside the original equipment small mirrors, and the only way to correct it is to reinstall the small mirrors.

Does this sound logical ? Is there any way around this ? I really need the large camper mirrors - are there any other options ? Is there a sensor that can be installed in the mirrors or door to satisfy the computers need for input ?

Please Help - Anybody

I don't know anything about theses new mirrors but you would think if that is where the sensor is placed it would be in the other mirrors as well becuase if they put it some where else why not have it in that same spot for all the trucks something just does not sound right to me anyways my dealer said he would swap out mine for the tow two but i think he was thinking on the line of the plain black ones and not the ones with the led in the front which really looks sharp lit up .

The passenger towing mirror (AVF rpo code specific) is different than the gas towing mirror. Gotta order a passenger side camper mirror for a diesel truck. The mirror part number has 3 rpo codes to it, AVF, DQS or DPN (depending on the mirror) and K40 (engine exhaust brake). There is an ambient temperature sensor in the mirror. This is specific to trucks built with the AVF rpo code in the build sheet. Do you know when your truck was built?

Not sure what happend to my reply above so will i have the same problem when they switch it them over in the gas engine ?

Maybe? Honestly they should not be swapping mirrors, they should be ordering the right ones to begin with. This is the problem when dealers swap to make people happy.

Mine isn't even built yet but i asked if they could be added and the answer was no because they already excepted the order the truck i'm getting was already ordered for the truck pool more of a time thing for me i waited to long so i got the truck that was on order but it had everything i wanted except for the tow mirrors and nav. alway figured it could be added people add it after market all the time. plus the it comes with heat and signals so i thought it was just a plug and play for my truck that i'm getting.

Hi all,

New here and ordered a Sierra 2500 HD Onyx Black SLT Double cab in September 27th and they have the DQS mirrors on the window sticker. They look great and can't

wait to see them in person! Just got an email from the dealer and he says he has a vin. How long till it shows up at the dealer?

That is a good question . i was told mine was being built this week and tracking still has not changed unless they are building it tomorrow they said built this week should see it 1st week or two in dec the suspense is killing me

I guess that the orders were pulled on Mondays so ours must have been built on the same day! {Nov. 10th}

Yes.. the suspense is killing me as well... a few more weeks should do it. Now I can get a quote for my insurance with the vin.
