Finally cranked T-Bars

I had to get my 2000 Sierra aligned and had the shop crank the torison bars while they were at it.  I can't believe the difference in the looks.  I got at least 2 inches of lift.  Doesnt sound like much, but when you see it, it looks like alot.  One question though....I asked the tech at the shop how much he cranked them and he said all the way up.  Will this cause any type of unnecessary wear on anything??  And if it will, then why does GM make them adjustable????   It rides just a bit more stiff, but I will sacrifice some of the ride for the TRUE TRUCK LOOK.  And now my 285's no longer rub the fender well.

I don't think it would cause any problems... except headlight alignment especially when carrying a load.  You're certainly going to have to get the headlights realigned, and then you'll have to accept the fact that the truck looks rear heavy when carrying a load.

If he really did tighten them "all the way" then you will certainly top out - likely with a load if you ever fill it or go way off road.  It puts more stress on the CV joints and they will likely wear out a bit quicker.  just the price to pay for a truck looking truck.

They are adjustable because an 8.1L engine is a little heavier than the 4.3L that is available in the same truck.

Are the Z-71 off road shocks long enough so the truck will not top out?  And what will happen if the truck does top out?

They are adjustable so you can adjust ride height. For instance, if you add a heavy accessory to the front of your truck like a winch, brushguard, snow plow or heavy duty bumper you can compensate for the extra weight and raise the truck's ride height back to original.

The stock shocks will be fine. You are not changing the amount of suspension travel. You are only changing the ride height.

I just had the Ford keys installed and the torsion bars cranked on my GMC to level the truck, at the dealer.  The mechanic told me I would be fine as far as shocks go, and any additional wear would be nothing to worry about.
