Cup Holders in Jumpseat Leak Through

Found a wonderful design flaw today. Apparently the cup holders in the jump seat fold down console have holes under the rubber insert. Accidentally spilt some coffee where the cup holders are, not thinking it's a big deal because all my previous gm vehicles they were sealed at the bottom. Well they aren't the holes leak through to the back of the console and underneath.

 

So should the USB and aux ports be ok? Would GM be liable for this?

 

Ruined a galaxy s5 and an iPhone too, guess no more liquids in the truck.

Yes the new design sucks. It has slits in the bottom of them now. I posted this last year when I got my truck. The cup holder rubber is removable though. I pulled mine out and cut the tabs that hold it down off. Now I can remove and clean it in the sink like the last gen trucks.

Too bad I didn't see it. I attempted to scour the forums before I bought it to be prepared for the little stuff guess I missed that one.

yep, i pulled mine out, added some clear silicon to seal the holes. no leaks anymore if i spill something!

Why would they do that?  Just bought mine yesterday. Driving home from dealership stop at chick fil a.  Must’ve put the straw in the foam cup too hard cause it poked through and a minute later I look down and the cup holders are full of coke.  I stop and start peeling out the rubber liner thinking I’ll dump it all outside on the ground. The level drops.  I get the liner out and it’s got holes!   
 

good thing there’s a hard plastic liner under it holding all the coke. I’ll just scoop out what I can.  Again the level drops.  It also has holes.  Now the Inside of the seat has a medium cup worth of coke soaked into it.  Wtf if the liner can’t be solid why can’t the plastic bowl under it!!     What a stupid stupid stupid design!

 

does anyone make a liner that’s leak proof?  Any solution to this nightmare. Can I take the back of the seat off only to try and clean it out?  All I can find is having to take the whole front seats out.  What a nightmare I just bought it.
