New member saying hello !!

Hello to all !! Got a question for the experienced owners out there and would appreciate any heads-up . I am about to buy a 05'Silverado, standard cab, 4x4, full box. Approx 175,000Kms ( 105,000 miles, approx.)

Just spoke to a retired GM mechanic who warned me to watch out for known transfer case problem and to allow for replacement, but he's not sure what years, or mileage to expect it to happen. Anyone out there that can shed some light on the issue? Any input would be appreciated from those who may know, before I hand over the cash.

I see you've already posted it in the right area. That's about all I could point you to. There is a wealth of knowledge on here. Someone for sure will chime in, or if you dig hard enough, there may be a few threads out there already. Good luck on the purchase and let us know if you pick it up.

First thing I seen when I arrived to see the truck that looked pretty solid in pictures, ( ya right) was numerous signs of Tremclad Rust Paint all along the rocker panels etc. LOL . Needless to say, maybe he will sell it, but not to me. Looking at another tomorrow at a dealer, let's see how this one goes. ???

Welcome BustyBoy, what did you found out? I would also not go if there's any doubt about the machine, especially feeling the owner/dealer is not telling everything.
