why I hate GM

My brake lines ruptured. My flexplate cracked twice. My steering shaft was replaced. My trans cooler lines corroded. My fuel lines corroded. The frame is rusty as hell. The doors leak and have since day one. The gauge cluster doesn't work. The back door got stuck closed because plastic clips broke. The seat heaters kick on as they please and I can't even pull the fuse because they are on the ignition circuit. The wheels corroded and become pitted and the spare tire assembly got stuck and I couldn't get my spare down.

But other than that, my truck is mint. 88,000 miles on the clock now.

So on to the real question. I'm rebuilding the fuel system and this POS is put together With the crappy quick connect plastic clips. I have figured out what I want to do with the rear half of the system no problem but the front is another story. The hard lines run to the back of the motor and then one goes to a nylon line for the return system and I have a plan for what to do with that. The other line goes into a section of flexible braided line which then meets back up with hard line before entering the fuel rail.

First off I can't even get the hard line off of the flexible section to see how they connect. Second I have no idea how to replace this part of the system. The dealer wanted 150 bucks for that section of hose alone. The hose is in good shape and shows no sign of needing to be replaced so is there a way for me to reuse the hose?

I bought some fancy tool to remove fuel lines that have that fancy clip thingy. The first time I did a fuel pump replacement and discovered those on the top of tank that had limited space to reach into, I fabricated my own tool, but then saw the real tool at auto parts store.. picked up a set for "next time"..

There's a special tool you need. I do believe autozone has it though. I used to have some. I took the fuel lines off several LSx motors. Its a pita. aint gonna lie.

Do you go offroading on the salt flats after a rain or something? Sounds like your truck has had a rough life. I've seen trucks with 200-300k miles that aren't having those sorts of problems.

My dad's did get the spare tire winch stuck though. rockauto.com is your friend, if they dont have it.. gmpartsdirect.com or some other GM parts place will, you can generally get part #s from schematics right off the sites.

You would think based on the condition of the truck that it was parked an ocean for a year or so. This thing has been terrible. We live in ohio so there is salt on the roads in the winter but the truck got washed regularly and was garage kept. Must have just gotten a Monday truck!

 or a Friday evening truck.

I've seen a few trucks that come down here from up north on CL, the beds usually rusted out around the wheel wells, but even then thats usually 00-01s, I can understand your dissatisfaction. After 10 years your truck has aged 25 it sounds like.
