Perimeter light and Reverse

So out of all the things that I love about my truck there is one thing I do not like. When the perimeter lights are set to turn on when I unlock the doors I do not like the reverse lights coming on. I know why they did it, but to me reverse lights should be for "reverse" only. I see it on all kinds of models of GM and it drives me nuts when I'm nice and wait for someone to back up just to find out they haven't even gotten in the vehicle yet.

 

Is there a way to have the reverse NOT come on with the rest of the perimeter lights and still have full function of the reverse lights for "reverse"?

The reverse lights are controlled through the BCM. I don't know if there is a way to program off the perimeter lights or not, but the dealer would have to do it if there is.

My DIC allows me to turn off the entire system just no options to not have the reverse lights come on.

Programming issue. Id say your sol. I also hate that feature. They should turn on the park lights in my opinion.

It is one of the most unsafe features ever. Apparently some engineer thought it was great. just stupid.

I actually like it, nice for finding the vehicle. Although having the parking lights come on and stay on would be better.

They used the reverse lights because they are white light so you can see around the back of the truck. Red light would not do a very good job at night to illuminate the area around the truck.

 

I would like to know which relay it uses so I can install some led strips under the side mirrors so I would have light on the sides of the vehicle as well like the newer trucks have....
