positive or negitive offset for wheels

im going to ge getting new wheels and tires for my 2014 silverado. should i go a possitive or negitive offset?

negative off set will set the wheels out further, positive will tuck them under the wheel wells...so it depends on the look.

Need a little help regarding this issue with offset and back spacing. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado with the 18" Z71 rims. I want to replace them with a set of Fuel Krank D517 Black milled rims 18x9. How do I figure what offset should I get that would either be as close to a stock fit or a fit that would make the sidewall of the tire flush with the fender or just to the outside of it?

 

Not sure if it matters, but I am looking a two tires. Cooper Discover S/T MAXX 285/65-18 (32.8x11.8) or the Goodyear Dura Trac 295/65-18 (33.1x11.8).

 

I will also be adding a level lift and was going to go with a RC 2.5" however the shop uses/recommends Ready Lift 2.25". Any opinions on either?
