What truck do I have?

??? Can someone tell me a little about my truck? I would like to buy suspension parts, but don't want to be getting the wrong stuff. I can provide RPO's if needed. The truck is an 2000 K2500 reg. cab, fleetside, 8' bed. I have heard 'old body style'? 454 vortech, 4L80E, TC shifts on the floor. The axle is G80 3:73. Supposedly 'plow prep'. Tow hooks on front. Some of the info I got from the dealer from the VIN, some I got from this wonderful sites RPO listing. My problem is that all I ever see for 2000 model year listings is either 'Silverado' or 'Sierra'. My truck is neither. What gives here? I've got 42K on on the odo now, bought used at 33K. Should I be changing out all the fluids about now? This is a really fun truck, but I have to keep a restraint on the foot because the 10MPG is hard on the wallet. Keepin my foot out of it I can get almost 15MPG. Sorry for the long post. Newbie babbling on here.

You must have one of the last old body style pickups.  I can't remember what year that body style started, but if you look for parts from 96-99 you should be on the safe side.  It's hard to find stuff for the 00 because you are right at the model switch so the components are different from the new body style to the old.

Good luck, I hope that made some sense to you, and welcome to the forum.

In 99 and 00 model years they only built Silverado's in 1500 series.  Your 2500 is the standard for that model year, and as long as you specify 2500 the parts guy will give you the right stuff.

:D Thanks all. The build date of the truck is indeed 12/99. What I am finding are discrepenies for things like body lifts that are $250 for the 99-00 trucks or $150 for the 95-98 trucks. I am guessing that if I ask for parts for the 95-98 year trucks I should be ok? I would really like to get my 33's from my '83 on this vehicle while I do a frame-off resto/upgrade of the '83. I don't see many trucks like this with the square headlights, so I am very leary about buying parts right now. Trail Master makes a kit  T/MC343SSV for the 89-99 4" Lift 4wd K2500/K3500 & Suburban 8 lug from 4wheelparts for $1500.00. Would this be the kit I am looking for? And then, to muddy the waters even more, ProComp offers two different kits for the 93-98 6" Lift 4wd 8-Lug w/out cast lower arms or w/ cast lower arms. How do I tell wheather I have cast arms or not (besides by looking at all my friends signatures (;-]). Thanks again for the great help!

Black Silver,

You are incorrect about this. They made  new body style 99 and 2000 Sierra and Silverado trucks in 2500 series as well. In 2001 they came out with the 2500HD which replaced the CK 2500 body style that Yesac has. Now both the 2500 (sometime referred to a 2500LD) and 2500HD are available, however the 2500 is now limited to a Std. Cab 2WD and an Ext. Cab 4WD version.

My link shows a 99 GMC, I assure you they did make a Silverado version as well.

Yesac,

Most parts for a 98 should work.  I know there were a few changes in brakes etc from 97 to 98 in the 1500s.  Make sure you call the manufacture and get part numbers if in doubt.

Yeh I have a 2000 2500HD Crew Cab and a lot of the listings are screwed up for the 99 and 00 model years as they show only the new Sierra/Silverado and not the old C/K "classic" line.

Generally OK with 98 listings although 99 is better since there were a few changes 98 to 99.  Look for C/K Pickup listings not sierra/silverado.  The only change between the 99 and 00 is a paint colour.
