I need advice on this and what to do I just bought this 2014 Silverado truck ran great when I first got it. Lately when truck switches to v4 mode truck run rough slight viberation, now on freeway with cruise set truck feels like drops a gear breaks down into rough viberation with strange noise. I had to hit gas to break truck out of mode, then its been running bad ever since. This problem on freeway has happens twice but for last weeks truck in v4 mode running bad. V8 mode no issues. What do I do with this I know if I take it to the dealership it will be there tipical answer its in normal working order.

Thank you

And you know they will say this ???,

If your SES if OFF they will scan it anyways and try to do something but if there is nothing wrong with it please see a dodge or Ford store to completely satisfy your automotive repair concern .

I dont know what your issue is but when I am spending 47,000 dollars for a truck I expect it to be running for a long time. Second I was a cert. GM mechanic for years and I got out of this field because of the bull-shit these guys run past GM owners. Yes, if I take this to the dealership with out knowing what is happening there answer is always and I quote: " its normal" every time and it just is not me its all my clients I deal with go through this. Finally I would have hoped for a better return answer but the last time I checked Ford & Dodge have been running away from gm for years now, My problem as being a loyal GM owner this is the shit I have to deal with. Maybe GM can get there head out of there ass if they get people like yourself out of answer GM owner concerns. I take it you must have worked at a dealship to have the remark like you did......

be sure to get them to ride with you and witness the noise and rough vibration. they get paid by GM to repair these trucks, so they surely won't blow you off if they can identify a problem.

I was a tech for 14 yrs and I now have toyotas in my stable instead of GM , because I had to many new GM veh's on my hoist ,

As a former tech you should know the process and not be so dam assuming of the outcome of a service visit ,

Sometimes a NFF, ( no fault found)is presented because of misinformation or customer not knowing the behaviour IS infact normal , what needs to be done is this has to be explained to the customer as to why it's normal ,

What year did you leave the dealer life ?

I hated and loved flat rate , I loved wearing GM coveralls , I loved rebuilding transmissions one after the other , I loved being a cheating whore , what I hated the most was management , they didn't have a clue , I hated warranty times getting knocked back ,

I'm glad I did all those years with and now have the best retirement job ever , back fixing cars & trucks on an army base , this time as a civilian ,

As mentioned road test with a shop Forman , which you know to do already

Good luck , have a merry Xmas

Hey thanks for a good text back better than the first one. I was a gm tech with my masters for 8 years with GM, I agree that the people in charge are one of GM's main problems in the service dept. were we live its a bigger problem they dont want to pay these guys the money they deserve so they get these fly by night techs that have no glue about these cars now. Look I worked on peoples cars since I was seven years old there is no more back yard tech anymore. What I am looking for is some feed back about what I should be telling them what we need to be looking at, or the answer I will get back is " its normal ". Look I love this truck I think GM is way back on the path of being a great car builder again, and I have owned a lot of GM products and I still have 81 corvette, 2001 Alero, 2003 blazer extreme, 2011 Buick Enclave and my Silverado plus I had a deville which I traded in on the truck and I had though when I bought The Enclave Gm was on there way back the truck Wow its built. But Like anything else things happen and I know running rough and viberation in V4 is not normal.

81 vette , very nice

01 Alero -- eeewwwww

03 Blazer --hate 'em lol

11 enclave -- nice

14 - silvi -- nice

I Still have nightmares because of those 2 veh's you have , lol

I hated W body cars as well , they are awful , T Blazers are a bitch to get an engine or tranny or t case out of , just awful lol

I think of them and I get a shiver down my back , thx for that lol

In the end thou if there are no codes ( insert your name name here) , there is nothing wrong and very well be a normal condition , just saying , I've never worked on those new veh's as I've been out since 08 ,

Have an open mind , road test with shop foreman and have him show YOU why it's normal if at all ,

Good luck ( insert your name again ) , let us/ me know wtf they say please ,

Any GM TECH is my automatic friend here just from sharing the same bullshit no matter the country in which we worked .

I have the same vibration.....don't even need to look at the DIC, I can tell when it's in the V4 mode.....yup, they said it's normal. :shakehead:

Now that i think about it, the truck does run just barely noticeably rough in v4 mode. It feels sort of like driving a manual transmission in 5th gear when you should be in low 3rd, but not nearly as bad. If your vibration is similar to what I'm describing, then it might be a normal phenomenon.

    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
