Which intake gaskets to use

Well I found out last night that I might have a bad knock sensor on my 99 silverado 2500 6.0. I've already found the fix for that. But question is what brand of intake gaskets should I use? Was considering fel pro always used that brand. But if there's something better I'd like to know. Was looking at the victor reins set on rock auto since it had everything.

OE gasket set would be my choice.

That wouldn't really be needed if you're just swapping knock sensors... That includes all the gaskets for removing the valley cover (which you wouldn't need to do) in addition to the intake.

Stay away from the Airtex and other stuff unless you like doing things twice.

Yeah that's what I figured. I was thinking about doing the valley gasket anyway though. Just so I know it doesn't leak. I'll definitely go with quality parts for sure.

Any advice on cleaning out the manifold after I get it off? Oh and I thought I read something about having to replace manifold bolts after taking it off, is this true?

No need to replace the intake manifold bolts. GM recommends using blue Loctite on the threads, and there is a torque pattern and its a two step torque sequence.

 

Tighten intake manifold bolts first pass in sequence to 5 Y (44 lb in).

 

Tighten intake manifold bolts final pass in sequence to 10 Y (89 lb in).

I used B-12 Chemtool to clean mine as well as the throttle body.

I also took some time to CAREFULLY clean out the intake runners on the heads.

Runs like a champ!
