2006 Silverado anti theft issue

I have an issue with my anti theft system not allowing my truck to start intermittently. I have an aftermarket remote starter (astrostart) installed. Not sure if this could be contributing to the problem.

If i use the astrostart remote key to start the vehicle it starts, but if i tap the brake before installing the key it kills the engine. If I try to install the key to start at that point the vehicle will turn over, but will not start. I didnt have any problems with in when it was initially installed. It has been installed for about 4 years. I only started having issues with it about a year ago. Any suggestions are appreciated. I have tried resetting the anti theft system using the 10 min key on, then key off for 10 sec. Did this 3 times and it seems to have worked for now, but i am sure i will have issues again down the road.
