2015 Sierra 2500 Denali Tow Mirrors on 2014 1500 SLT

Been searching around but have not seen anything regarding this specific set up.

 

I recently purchased the 2015 Denali tow mirrors (Chrome with LED Marker lights on front side of mirrors, as well as turn signals in Mirror glass)

 

As we speak my truck is at the dealership getting them installed, unfortunately no body at my dealership has done this setup on a 2014 1500 before, and they are unsure if I will get full function of the mirrors. I was very surprised to find that the 2015 Denali mirrors are actually $100 less than the 2014 standard tow mirrors.

 

Has anyone run this setup on their 2014 SLT and if so, did everything work?

I have it on mine and there is a large thread all about these mirrors. But let me start with saying this, YOU WILL NOT GET FULL FUNCTION WITHOUT MODIFICATION TO THE WIRING.

 

I put them on mine recently and it is easy to wire in the new functions, the LED markers and the white LEDs on the back. I found a very simple way to wire it all in. You cut the orange wire on the mirror's harness and wire splice in to the red and blue wire which is the turn signal wire, and you cut the wire in slot 2 of the mirrors harness, I believe it was grey and green, will have to check and you will wire splice into the first slot. This combined with a diode under the dash will make the Amber LEDs work as turn signals and the white LEDs work as puddle lights and as cargo lights.

 

I will take pictures and post when I can.

 

 

If you go ahead and use 2 diodes then you can get your cargo lights to turn on with your reverse lights (1 diode) and a second diode can make your puddle lights turn on with the cargo lights, and therefore, also with the reverse lights.

 

This set up will make the white LEDs on the mirrors turn on when the truck is unlocked at night and when you turn on the cargo lights and even when you put the truck in reverse.

 

If you would rather the white lights only come on when in reverse or when the reverse lights come on, then you will need to run your own wiring to the reverse lights.

Same goes if you want the amber lights to work as running lights, you will have to run your own wires to the running lights in the front or rear of the truck.

there is plenty of info so you have to just sift through it and find what is relevant. But the first post is very useful and there is a large post that someone else had edited and created from dozens of previous posts and both of them have a lot of useful info.
