Onstar remote link app upgrade ....

The app upgrade looks really crappy to me.... i liked the old format 100 times better....what do you all think ?

I think it looks a bit more professionally designed, but don't really like or dislike it. Wish it was a little faster to complete commands.

I'll have to test to see if it works any better from Wi-Fi now.

It doesn't work any faster. Only time it was quick for me was the first time I started my truck from it. My friends iPhone starts her car pretty quick too. Maybe it's an android thing. We are both on verizon. Doesnt seem to work any faster on WiFi either

I don't care what it looks like as long as it works. In my world it would work faster than it does now.

It's functional but the old one was cooler. My trial is expired so I can't see the the vehicle status to compare, so the key fob stuff is about the same.

As for speed I think it's just hit or miss. Android here too, sometimes it sends the request and boom, sometimes it takes two minutes, and sometimes it hangs and then on a second try it happens pretty quick. Assuming that's just the network and trying to call the vehicle.

I've never had it take more than 15 seconds on my 2015. Not with the previous version or this new one.

My only complaint is the warning to use where legal BEFORE entering the passcode for remote start. Would be nice to combine those...

One thing I like a lot, is it will tell you when the truck starts. Sometimes my truck is out of sight and with the key fob I'm not always sure it is started. I was 80 miles away from home the other day and my truck was home in the garage. My wife called me and said she was doing something in the garage, I quickly sounded the horn and flashed the lights from the On Star app. She didn't think it was near as funny as I did.

The new design takes an extra step to get to the remote start tab. It also no longer has a pop up message that says "your vehicle is now running." All I get now is a very hard to read gray colored "success" message in a tiny font. Neither of these are huge issues, but if I were designing the app I sure wouldn't have made the confirmation message gray on white, and the tiniest font possible. The confirmation message is key to the remote start portion of the app. I always wonder who thinks these things through, and how changes like this make it to market.
